Barry

What if we met halfway?

01

Method

Three points are computed, weighted, then averaged.

  • The halfway mark, by time or by distance, on the longest trip between all the cities ×13
  • The average of the cities' coordinates ×2
  • The centre of the frame holding every city ×1

Their average gives the point: the best approximation of a place that is fair to everyone's journey.

02

Settings

Halfway by time
distance

Worldwide routing is by car only, always along the fastest roads.

03

Starting points

Enter confirms and opens the next line + adds a city, − removes it

Note

Every city must be reachable by road from the others: Tokyo and Paris share no road, and Barry will say so rather than invent a route. For France, the French edition uses the IGN data and adds walking and motorway options.
